Snew and Allan Holdsworth do Deep Purple?

Allan Holdsworth and Snew: Unlikely Collaboration
Prog Guitarist Allan Holdsworth and Hard Rockin’ Snew Remake “Highway Star”

In one of the most improbable musical combinations imaginable, hard rock band Snew has teamed up with legendary improvisational guitarist Allan Holdsworth for a new rendition of the Deep Purple classic Highway Star. The song will be exclusively available for the entire month of February on the Snew website as a free download to all Snew World Order members. Go to SnewWorldOrder.com for free registration.

Holdsworth plays two entirely unique solos on the song in his one-of-a-kind technique, while the band belts out a ferocious, balls-to-the-wall version of Highway Star that totally pays homage to Purple and then some.

Usually opposed to covering songs by another artist, let alone a band with the luminary status of Deep Purple, Snew’s members felt Highway Star was the right vehicle for their collaboration with Holdsworth. “The song just felt right,” observed Snew bass player Cat Tate, “and let’s face it, we really kick ass on it!”

After February, Highway Star will be available on all popular on-line music sites like iTunes and Rhapsody, and will be released as a limited edition CD single complete with CD-ROM bonus material.

The NEW Album by Snew is OUT!!!

The new album by Snew has just been released. The album is entitled "Snew You" and it's already getting high praise for the music community.

Here's a review from Buzzbin Magazine:

The album entitled SNEW YOU offers us ten tracks from the Hollywood Hard Rockers, SNEW. The band kicks off a face blistering good time. Dude, this album will be your Summer Album I promise. You know, the one you never take out of your car. Its really only meant to make you do one thing; ROCK. The lyrics are as deep as you want to take them, and the overall sound is hard rocking, raw, upbeat, and captures the same feeling Zeppelin had in their prime. Its fun, its hip, its ALIVE. Oh yeah, one more thing, SNEW YOU!
- Samson Stryker/Buzzbin Magazine

Currently the album is available for digital download only but a deluxe CD package will be released in July. Let the Summer begin - Snew's Out!

The Global Community of Rock

The Global Community of Rockers

Thanks to everybody who is supporting ROCK music these days. Rock, especially Hard Rock, has been in short supply when it comes to the mainstream. The major labels have done what they always do... give us nothing but what THEY want. It's usually been a rare thing when we the rock fans agree with what they want.

These days, who cares what they want or what they have to sell. We have each other. We are the Global Community of Rockers can find one another all over the internet with sites like this one and Cyqo.com and a whole slew of others that bring us together to meet and search for the kind of music we LOVE.

We can talk to each other and talk directly with the guys in the bands we are into. How awesome is that! Snew is all over the globe because of this. We talk and share our music with people we like and who like us. It's the BEST.

We are putting out our new album in about a month. We want all you guys to check it out and let us know what you think. Give us comments and if you have any suggestions or thoughts on what it sounds like or ideas for the next album we want to know. The coolest thing about all this is that we can all make the kind of music we love, together. You are now a part of the band. I MEAN IT! The whole reason our songs are up here is because we want it to belong to everybody.

The album is called "Snew You". Everybody we know likes to say that, so what else would we call it. You know what that means, right? Just say it out loud and you'll know what it means. If you ever come across someone who doesn't get it, then say Snew You to them. They'll figure it out.

In conclusion, download all our songs and share them with all the rockers you know. Some of our songs will be free some we'll charge for (we have to make a little money so we can keep putting out more, you understand that) but if you share them with your friends, they won't have to pay anything. Send us a big SNEW YOU as often as you can and we'll Snew You right back.

Candidates Heat Things Up

As the candidates heat things up in the battle to the White House from Clinton to McCain and Obama to Romney. Going head to head while regurgitating the same buzz words does nothing to differentiate one from another or wake the slumbering masses. The only thing each one has that is there own is their theme song. Trouble is though they've chosen the same old tired songs we've all heard too many times and for the most part we never want to hear them again. The candidates need to choose music that will intensify their message and boost their image. I challenge John McCain to use a song like "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath or "Custard Pie" by Led Zeppelin for Hillary. You get where I'm going with this? They all have attributes that would be best accentuated by the right song.

But perhaps the best way to go would be to use some fresh hard rocking music that will really make a statement, a new statement... a Snew statement! There are some songs by hard rockers Snew that would be perfect for any of them. How about "Stand Up High" or "Kick Me Over" here's one "Got Love", now there's a message you don't get everyday from a politician. Any of these songs would do more than just get the point across. We might even pay attention.

Listen for yourself and you decide.

10 Hot Acts to watch in 2008

The first few months of the year are the perfect time for new acts to grab attention and, sales. True for upcoming releases and new promotional boosts for what's already on hand.

Here are 10 hot acts to watch from genres pop, rock, country, R&B, hip-hop, Christian, jazz and dance.

SNEW (snewyou.com)

Perhaps the hottest of the hot in rock is SNEW. Visually and sonically, Hollywood, CA-based Snew could best be described as "the premier band in the new hard rock movement." They've got hooks, chops, energy and across the board appeal. The band thus far has refused to sign with any label and will release a new album come spring; if the songs leaked out on MySpace and other community sites are any sort of indication, the album will be full of nothing but hits geared tword any self respecting rock fan anywhere.
Snew should explode in 2008 for a number of reasons. Most notably, they play the kind of rock n roll it's been decades since anyone has heard performed with any sort of authority. But most important, if you like of solid, well-crafted rock'n'roll you'll appreciate the band's solid musicianship and song craft.
The band is mum about marketing plans, but with a band of this caliber, it might just be wise to sit back and let the music do the talking. In the mean time check them out at http://www.snewyou.com/ or just about anywhere else on the internet.

ANANE (Tommy Boy Records)
Dance music's full of wannabe divas who think they're all that. But newcomer Anane, hailing from Portugal and Cape Verde, looks out like Diana Ross, but get down like Lauryn Hill.
After a several of singles on Vega Records, her debut album, "Selections," is scheduled for a May release on Tommy Boy.
With three covers well-known to the club community, ESG's "Standing in Line," Bunny Mack's "Let Me Love You" and Yoko Ono's "Walking on Thin Ice" -- the rest are original, ranging from thick club grooves to calypso to dance-rock.
The album's first widely released single, "Shake Dat Booty," produced by Tony Touch and Mr. Vegas.

TINATIN (Liaison Music)
A native of the Republic of Georgia; her father was an architect and painter, her mother a classical pianist. Then, as a young adult, she moved to London, where she met with producer Christopher Neil (Celine Dion, Mike & the Mechanics, Rod Stewart), who encouraged her to write songs and helped line up gigs. Today, at 23, Tinatin released a CD independently on PureMix Records her first single, "We the Peoples".

KATE VOEGELE (MySpace Records)
Kate Voegele's will re-releases her MySpace Records debut, "Don't Look Away," January 22.

GALLOWS (Epitaph Records)
American audiences got their first taste of the act's live shows on last year's 40-date Vans Warped tour. Having also supported Bad Religion, Gallows headlines 25 U.S. dates this month and next. The band's debut, "Orchestra of Wolves," released in 2006, was re-released last year by Warner Music U.K. via Black Envelope Records. Epitaph issued it stateside in July.
The album has sold 9,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

LADY ANTEBELLUM (Capitol Nashville Records)
Lady Antebellum's debut album is scheduled for a spring release. The group will tour with Martina McBride in January.

TYRA B (Warner Bros. Records)
opening slot for 30 dates on the 2005 Destiny's Child tour. She also hit with indie single, "Still in Love." Her debut album, titled "Past Due," is set for release.

MEREDITH ANDREWS (Word Records)
Andrews has landed a slot opening 30 dates for Aaron Shust this spring.

BLITZEN TRAPPER (Sub Pop Records)
Signed to Sub Pop in 2007 and will release a new album come summer.

ESPERANZA SPALDING (Heads Up International Records)
Esperanza Spalding dances aand grooves through funk and rock.
Signed to Heads Up International, an imprint of Concord Music Group, for her first widely released CD. Produced by Terrence Blanchard, the set is due in May.
